Regional autonomy, with all the shortcomings that still exist, basically giving greater authority to the District / City to take the policy, plan activities and create programs of physical and non-physical development for their respective regions. In carrying out this planning function, Regency / City is in need of a wide range of sectoral data as well as across sectors. Without the data, it is impossible can be made a good planning. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in accordance with the duties and functions as an institution that is authorized in conducting statistical activities based on the Law of Statistics no. 16, 1997, is very concerned to provide a variety of data required by the government, both central and local. In regard to regional autonomy, BPS presence in the area would have to support fully the availability of data needed for planning in the area. Publication of the People`s Welfare Indicators (Inkesra) Padang Panjang year 2009 is one of the BPS commitment to supporting the government of Padang Panjang by providing data feasible, accurate, timely, and quality.
